How to Do Red and Black Goth Lip Look?

  • Step 1:  Prep your lips

To get the most beautiful ombre look, you’ll need to prepare your lips first! So, it would be a good idea to exfoliate your lips and remove dry patches and dead skin cells. You can use a gentle lip scrub or make your own by mixing sugar with honey or olive oil. Gently massage the scrub onto your lips in circular motions, then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

  • Step 2: Contour  the shape

Now it is time to shape your lips by contouring them with a sharpened lip liner.  Use a dark-red or burgundy lip and outline your lips. Follow the natural shape of your cupid's bow and the curves of your bottom lip. You can slightly exaggerate or adjust the shape if desired. Be sure to keep your hand steady and use short, light strokes for a precise line.

  • Step 3: Fill in your Goth lips

Put pigmented lipstick with a creamy texture (or lip paint) on your lips, avoiding the corners. Select a pigmented lipstick in a dark, gothic shade that suits you. Look for a creamy texture or opt for lip paint for an intense color payoff. Dark shades like deep burgundy, black, or dark purple work well for a goth lip look.

Using a lip brush or the lipstick itself, carefully fill in the center area, working your way toward the edges of your lips. Try applying the color as evenly as possible to, ensure a smooth and full coverage.

  • Step 4: Add some black lip liner

Now add some black lip liner to the corners of your lips. Gently blend the transitions between the black and red colors with the help of a soft synthetic brush. Choose a black lip liner pencil that is smooth and easy to work with. Make sure it's sharp for precise application. Starting at the corners of your lips, use the black lip liner to fill in the outer edges. Stay within the contour lines you've previously created with the dark lipstick, ensuring a seamless transition between the black and red colors. The black liner in the corners adds depth and intensity to the gothic ombre effect.

To create a smooth transition between the black and red colors, use a synthetic lip brush or a small, clean brush with dense bristles. Gently blend the black lip liner in the corners towards the center of your lips, where the darker lipstick shade is applied. This blending technique softens any harsh lines and creates a gradual ombre effect.

  • Step 5: Final touches

If you notice any smudges or mistakes along the edges of your lips, use a small concealer brush or a cotton swab dipped in concealer to gently clean up and conceal any imperfections. Blend the concealer carefully around the lip line to ensure a seamless finish.

Finish with a layer of juicy lip gloss. Apply a thin layer of lip gloss over the entire surface of your lips, starting from the center and working your way to the corners. The lip gloss will add dimension and give your goth lips a juicy, plump appearance.
