With the sudden weather and temperature change my skin tends to suffer from dehydration, dullness and mild irritations. Sometimes the situation can get even worse after a hot shower and a usage of shower gels and cleansing products on a daily basis. The only thing that seems to fix the problem and revitalize the skin is a special skin care routine for dry skin. Today I wanted to share with you some simple tips and remedies, that help me to keep my skin healthy and hydrated.

Change Your Routine

First of all you need to find a reason why your skin suffers from dehydration. Harsh water, soaps, drying facial cleansers can cause dry and itchy skin. Are you drinking enough water? The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters of fresh and clean water per day. Keeping the water balance is essential for glowing skin and don`t forget about healthy diet. Feed your skin with a diet that includes dark chocolate, salmon, and other fatty fish, oranges, mangoes, and carrots.

UV Protection

Dry and damaged skin can`t protect itself from from the harmful effects of UV rays. Do not forget to get a nice sunscreen, that will gently care about your skin, ensuring long-lasting and strong protection from the sun. Ever heard about all natural sunscreen? I was shocked when I found out that a sunscreen can contain only natural ingredients and still prevent sunburns and skin damage. For instance Natural Sunscreen by Maple Holistics contains only Aloe, Cocoa Butter and water, but does it`s job perfectly!

Natural Oils

For the best result try to apply a generous amount of natural oil on your skin right after the bath or shower. Don`t dry the skin with a towel, but instead apply an oil directly on a wet skin. Applying natural oils creates a special seal that prevents moisture and vitamins from escaping. Natural oils, including almond, coconut, avocado and jojoba not only help your skin to stay hydrated, but also nourish it with a huge amount of vitamins.

For the days when my skin feels especially dry and dull I like to use a Pure Apricot Oil* by Maple Holistics. Apricot Oil is one of the best remedies that helps to cure dry skin. It is rich with Antioxidants, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Vitamins A,B,C & E - essentials elements for a helthy and smooth skin. Apricot Oil (also called apricot kernel oil) is a very thin and lightweight product, that`s why it absorbs deeply into the skin, nourishing it from the inside. Unlike other oils I`ve used before, Pure Apricot Oil by Maple Holistics does not clog my skin and does not live greasy residue. It has no additives and a special cold-press extraction method allows for more vitamins and minerals to remain in the final product. Paula Begoun, an author of a famous best seller “The Complete Beauty Bible,” mentions in her book that a pure apricot oil has a lipid content very similar to our skin. That`s why when the skin is dry, itchy and irritated, apricot kernel oil helps to reestablish lipid amount, healing and soothing the skin.

Exfoliate

Dehydrated skin tends to get sore, tight and patchy. Even though exfoliation can be uncomfortable at this period, it is very important to find a mild exfoliator that will remove dry patches and revitalize the skin. There are plenty of skin scrubs on a beauty market, but you can also find good remedies right at your kitchen or local grocery store. Add a little bit of a fine oat meal to your Greek yogurt or avocado and you good to go! Yogurt will gently cleanse the skin with a help of lactic acid and avocado will moisturize it. Lots of love,
Liz
